One of my favorite questions at every festival I attend is what my medium is. Why? Because I can’t pick just one!
I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember but first picked up a camera when I was twelve years old. It was a 35mm Minolta, and while I loved shooting, it was working in the dark room that really spoke to me. The smell of the chemicals, figuring out how much light to expose the paper to, the sound of the photos developing in the chemical bath - it taught me that the process of making art was emotionally satisfying.
Acrylic painting on canvas entered my life in high school; it was visits to the National Gallery’s Modern wing that really opened my eyes to the possibilities of what I could create.
I’m interested in work that feels uncomfortable, in art that leaves the viewer asking questions.
